Early Ideas
Final Idea and thoughts about implementation
Our brainstorming round turned out to be a very heated discussion. We first discussed the idea of a touchscreen table with NFC sensor which had a great application in restaurants. The NFC sensor would identify the identity of people dining in. Then they can easily order from the vast multitude of options on the touch screen. Their order would also be delivered by a conveyor belt. It took one of us no time to mention the unemployment factor that this would cause!. Then we started to think something related to our environment which made us think on saving water, preventing pollution or saving energy then we started to think about our homes and finally it struck to us that why not club them both and make a smart home.
Thus, we moved to the idea of a smart home. This smart home would be capable of conserving as well as producing electricity! The smart lights would include two ultrasonic sensors, which would identify if a person is entering or exiting a room. Then we thought about counting the number of people entering or exiting the room. Then came the idea of also conserving electricity. For this, we thought about piezoelectricity and its implementation in our project. Thus we built the circuit of piezoelectricity which could harvest electricity from our footsteps and store in capacitors for our model and generators if we wish to go big.
